TSC Supports 3D Printing Manufacturing of China’s New Generation Manned Spaceship

The return capsule of the trial version of China's new-generation manned spaceship successfully returned to the Dongfeng landing site in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 8th, 2020.

Developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) under the CASC, the new-generation manned spaceship is an advanced space transport vehicle adapted to multiple tasks. It can be used not only in low-Earth orbit missions to support the construction of China's space station but also for deep-space exploration, such as manned lunar exploration. The success of this test shows that China has made critical breakthroughs in many technology areas including capsule structure, materials and controlling system etc. One of the most important achievements is metal 3D printing manufacturing of capsule bottom structure, which has been supported by TSC Laser Technology Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (TSC), a portfolio company of Plateau.

According to introduction from Mr. Li cheng, Chairman of TSC, 3D printing manufacturing of large high performance critical metal structure has been a nightmare for the industry. But after years of research and accumulation of technique, TSC has been able to complete 3D printing manufacturing of large capsule structure with cutting-edge technologies. With rapid technology progress driven by market leaders like TSC, China’s metal manufacturing industry is expected to make more and more significant improvements in future.
